Durham..
As I begin my third and final year as Centre Chairman can I take this opportunity to thank you for allowing me to represent Durham Centre. This past year ,as you are all aware, has been the Centenary Year for The Caravan Club and has indeed been a very busy one. The climax of the year for David and myself was the honour of representing Durham Centre at the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.
I hope that you all enjoyed yourselves whichever event you attended.
We now look forward to our own Centre 2000th Rally Celebration, which will be held from 1st to 5th May 2008, at Greystones Farm, Winston. I hope to work with our new committee and volunteer members, to make this a rally of which Durham Centre can be proud. The success of this rally depends upon the support of you all.
As a Centre we have had a steady increase in numbers over the last few years. Can I take this opportunity to welcome all of our new members. If you have not yet attended a rally please don`t be shy. Come along and introduce yourselves or telephone a member of committee. We will be very pleased to welcome you and answer any questions or concerns you may have about rallying.
My thanks go to David, our Rally Secretary, for presenting a varied and interesting 2008 rally programme. I hope that you will enjoy this and attend Durham rallies whenever possible. Many thanks to those members who came forward as marshals and co - marshals last year and to those of you who worked behind the scenes. With out you our Centre could not function .Venues need marshals so please come forward with your help this year. Thanks must go to the landowners for the use of their land and for the help that they often give to the rally marshals.
My sincere thanks go to the retiring members of committee and their partners who have supported Durham Centre and me over the past year. A special thank you to my husband David who has given his wholehearted support throughout.
This year, the Chairman of the Young Caravanners will be Helen Bell and I wish her and her new Committee every success for the coming year.
Finally as we go forward into 2008 I look forward to working with our new Committee and their partners in the best interests of Durham Centre.
Always remember, we rally for pleasure and fun. Lets go forward in friendship and bring fun to the rally field.
