Chairman`s Message
Hello Everyone!
After 51 years with Durham Centre I have been elected as Chairman, following in my Father`s footsteps as first
Chairman of Durham Centre in 1960. I am supported in this venture by my Partner Harry Thompson who has moved
into my previous position of Hon. Secretary. This should prove to be beneficial to the Centre as jobs can be shared successfully.
We have a completely new committee with several new members who are keen to move the Centre forward as much as possible to give rallying opportunities to all ages, hoping to encourage families with children and young teenages, at a realistic cost. We are going to offer activities, including simple sports, at many of our Rallies. Check through your handbook to see where these are happening! New and old members might like to note that over each August Bank Holiday a Northern Centres Rally is hosted by one of the eleven Centres in the the Northern Region. This is a place of Sport and Entertainment for all but we need children particularly to come with their families - they are the future of our caravanning fraternity. Don`t forget this year of 2012. We could have our own Olympics!
Our retiring Chairman, Karen Simmons, introduced a first to the Centre with "On - line Rally Bookings" This was very
successful and will continue for 2012 but with some difference. The Vice - Chairman doing webmaster, will take on - line booking but without any monies. Cheques with deposits or full amounts can be sent directly to the appropriate Rally Marshal.Deposits or full monies can be paid at a previous Rally. The balance of the Rally you are attending should be paid CASH ONLY ON ARRIVAL.
PLEASE CONTACT THE APPROPRIATE RALLY MARSHAL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND
A BOOKED RALLY.
Please note that we will be chasing you over the year to support our Centre Charity which this this year is being driven by our immediate past Vice - Chairman,Dave Robinson and his wife June, to give thanks to the Freeman Children`s Heart Unit fund CHUF, for the given particularly to their baby grandson.
I look forward to meeting new Ralliers during the year and hope we can provide some happy and memorable days for you in 2012.
